What this means in practice: within Austria we drive vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes maximum permissible gross weight. For journeys across the border into other EU countries, the lower limit of 2.5 tonnes applies.
The applicable legal provisions are in particular the Austrian Trade Act 1994 (Gewerbeordnung 1994) and the Goods Transport Act 1995 (Güterbeförderungsgesetz 1995). Both are available in the Federal Legal Information System: ris.bka.gv.at.

VAT identification number: still to be added. The number has been applied for at the tax office and had not been issued when this page was published. § 5(1)(6) ECG expressly requires the information only “if available”; it will be added here as soon as it exists.
The small-business scheme under § 6(1)(27) of the Austrian VAT Act (UStG) is not used. VAT is therefore shown on invoices.
